We build leave management as plain Postgres tables: accrual policies as code, multi-jurisdiction bank holiday calendars seeded from a real source, and approval chains that branch on department, location and tenure. Slack and Microsoft Teams approvals go through a small Inngest workflow, requests sync to Google Calendar both ways, and a Metabase dashboard shows liability per cost centre.
